Le Rendez-Vous Community, Culture and Recreation Campus will transform the existing St-Pierre-Jolys
arena and surrounding area into a regional activity hub, with more opportunities for fun, learning, wellbeing and friendly competition.
The Campus will house the regional library, community gathering spaces, a refurbished ice rink, a cafeteria, a recreational fitness facility and a turf fieldhouse. It will be a community connection and holistic wellness centre, with easy access between indoor and outdoor spaces to encourage year-round activity.
Le Rendez-Vous Community, Culture and Recreation Campus is a two-phase project.
· Phase 1 is the revitalization of the arena, as well as new library, fitness and recreation centre, community connection, activity and event spaces and food facilities
· Phase 2 is the construction of the turf fieldhouse and the integration of the two facilities.
Planning for Le Rendez-Vous is ongoing, with discussions with potential funders. The Village of St-Pierre-Jolys is committed to providing opportunities to gather and participate in sport, recreation, and culture in the Village for the benefit of all our families and the whole region.
Le Rendez-Vous will:
· Bring us together in community - New community spaces will create opportunities to come together for creative and fun programming, wellness activities, cultural activities, concerts, festivals and celebrations.
· Save our regional library - The library has served our community for more than 60 years and ensuring its survival is critical. It will have a new, permanent home to expand services and continue serving the region.
· Keep our families active - Sports have always been at the centre of family and community life, and sport enrollment has been doubling, even tripling, in recent years. The new space will support the regional recreation masterplan and promote amateur sport.
· Preserve and promote French culture - The Campus will be grounded in our region’s Franco-Manitoban culture. Permanent and changing displays will share the stories of those who have made this area so unique and special over the years and centuries.
The project is a collaboration between communities, governments and the private sector. Talks are underway with the Province of Manitoba and the Government of Canada about their investments in Phase 1.
We will also look to people, families, businesses and organizations in the region to contribute and ensure Phase 1 can begin.
