St. Pierre CDC en Boom Inc.
Serving our community since 2008. St. Pierre Community Development Corporation en Boom Inc. is a not-for profit corporation serving the Village of St. Pierre-Jolys, Manitoba.
We serve our municipal government and community members through a variety of programs and partnerships.
In alignment with municipal pillar 1 of the SPJ Municipal Strategic Plan (2020) the CDC is administering the Baby Boomers in Action (BBA) Program to reskill older workers and get them back into the workforce. The BBA program brings clients from across southeastern Manitoba to participate in a 6 week training program and 6 weeks of mentorship with the end goal being re-entry into the workforce. The BBA program provides immediate economic benefits to the Village through staff and clients using Village services including restaurants, gas stations and local services such as the Community Employment Research Center (CERC).
In alignment with municipal pillar 2 of the SPJ Municipal Strategic Plan (2020) The CDC has been hosting Collective Perspective – with the St. Pierre Chamber of Commerce. The event is hosted quarterly to build relationships within our community. The purpose of the events is to foster relationships and look for synergy with participants and community organizations. The event chooses a different local venue and topic each time.
In alignment with municipal pillar 4 of the SPJ Municipal Strategic Plan (2020) the CDC is championing the largest cultural event in St. Pierre-Jolys, the St. Pierre Frog Follies. The Frog Follies celebrated 55 years in 2025. The Frog Follies is a hub of our local franco-Manitoban heritage and is critical to the culture of the Village. The event is so successful that it must grow beyond the capacity of a volunteer board. The CDC will provide support for by-law updates, record keeping, bookkeeping and board member development.
The CDC has been engaged with the Village of St. Pierre-Jolys Council with quarterly meetings seeking re-alignment on councils’ strategic objectives and will continue to remain a willing collaborator in that process.
The CDC operates a business incubator out of our facility at 555 Hebert. We provide a starting point for businesses looking to scale up their operations through small rental opportunities. The business incubator is an important service for the Village of St. Pierre residents to keep local entrepreneurs in the Village instead of scaling their operations elsewhere.
St. Pierre CDC’s flag ship project started in 2008. The electronic highway sign provides free advertising to local groups and expenses are covered by paid sponsorships to the sign. The service provides local high visibility advertising. The electronic signs celebrates high school graduates from both schools every summer and is the most popular time of the year. Our graduates are the future of our community and it is so important to celebrate their success.
