Friendly Visits - For people who are shut in or have difficulties that inhibit participating in community activities. The nature of the interaction and activities will be determined by both parties.

According to Canadian statistics 1.4 million seniors report feeling lonely.
Social isolation and loneliness can lead to:
-a decline in health, both physically and mentally
-increased risk in mortality
-poor cognitive performance and increased risk of dementia
-depression
-can increase high blood pressure
-elders not receiving services and benefits that can help them have a better quality of life
-increased risk of unhealthy behaviors and habits such as poor diet and lack of exercise
