The Village of St-Pierre-Jolys has curbside compost pickup. This is pretty unique for a small community. It has been possible through CDEM as a joint project with the R.M. of De Salaberry. In addition to helping to protect the environment, a reduction in  the amount of garbage reduces costs to the Village.
Any container can be used for compost pickup however, the Village has 250 free compost bins for your asking. (Limit of 1 per residence.)
Compost pick up schedule:
Winter:                  New for 2015:            
  • Compost will not be picked up from November 1st to April 1st.
  • During those months, it will be accepted at the bunkers located at the Public Works Shop.
  • Regular compost pick up will resume in   April 2016.
Spring to Fall:       Every Thursday (residents will be advised when this starts)

Compost can also be deposited in identified area at Public Works Shop, 356 Sabourin Street (Hwy 59)
Fruits, vegetables, meat, seafood, eggshells, bones, rice, beans, pasta, bread, cheese, tea bags, coffee grounds & filters, soiled cardboard, paper towels, uncoated paper, paper plates, garden waste, leaves, grass, wood chips & sawdust, pet hair, human hair, feathers
Plastic bags, wrap or containers, styrofoam, metal , aluminum foil, glass, liquids, synthetic fibre or blends, diapers, pet waste, harzardous waste
